The Seashells Taste Victory
Bert choked down a bite of Hope's fudge brownie. Or, it was supposed to be fudge. It looked kind of clear.
"What do you think?" Hope smiled. There was something scary about that smile.
"Wow," Bert croaked truthfully.
Hope seemed satisfied, so he hopped off the table and shuffled outside and swung over to his and Booper's room. Booper was writing in his log. Ever since Annabell had rescued him and Boopah from the sea, he had kept careful records on the things that happened.
"Hi, Boop."
"Hi, Bert."
"Hope just made me try her brownies."
"Mmmm?"
"They tasted like cellophane. And looked like it, now that I think about it."
"My sub sandwiches taste better. Bertha says her soup is the best, but I think mine is. Either mine or Boopah's cupcakes."
Bert's eyes lit up. You could practically see the light bulb going on above his round gray head.
"We should have a bake off!" he cried. "The seashells! And the humans can judge!"
Booper's corners turned up as he smiled. "That' a good idea! But I'm going to warn you, I make a mean sub!"

Annabell and the Beauty Maker (Part Three)
"I don't blame you," whispered Annabell when the girls were out of earshot. "I wish I looked like plain old me."
For all that week, Hope and Bertha bothered everyone about their beauty. Boopah and Annabell decided to turn them back.
"Let's go see if Violet can help us!"
So they went and got a make-me-normal potion. Annabell drank it. To her relief, her hair did NOT look like it had when Hope trimmed it. She also put some in Bertha and Hope's drinks. When they drank it, they turned normal.
"What happened?" Bertha asked.
Annabell and Boopah told them everything.
"Well, I guess we WERE a little bit annoying," said Hope. "Thanks."
And they never wasted beauty potions again- almost.

Annabell and the Beauty Maker (Part Two)
Annabell's hair grew, her nose shrank- but wait! Her dress was shrinking, too! Annabell awkwardly covered herself.
"That's the trouble," said Violet, watching. "It kind of shrinks your clothes."
Annabell shrugged and fashioned a new dress out of sand and shells.
"Hope would LOVE this potion," she thought to herself.
So, Annabell brought the potion up to the tree. Hope seethed when she saw Annabell. Someone was prettier than her!
"It's just me," the fashionable girl said. "I drank a beauty potion. Want to try it?"
Hope took a swig. Her hair curled into neat ringlets, her nose shrank, and her dress followed. Hope was so excited about her new look, she didn't notice how small her dress had become. Annabell turned away and gave Hope a new dress.
Next, they took the spell to Bertha and Boopah. Bertha drank some. She grew arms and legs, and her bow got smaller!
"Why don't you try some, Boopah?" Hope pleaded the little orange conch shell.
"I like me as I am," Boopah refused the magic.
"Your decision," Bertha said, striking a sassy pose.
She and Hope flounced away, eager to show the world their new forms.

Annabell and the Beauty Maker (Part One)
Annabell was writing in her journal. Her mainlander friend, Hannabelle, had sent it to her. She closed it and sighed. Life could be boring sometimes, even if you lived on a magical island. Annabell was about to fall asleep when Hope screamed, "Want to take a dare?"
Annabell jumped. She hadn't seen Hope standing beside her.
"I'll pass," she stuttered. Hope's dares tended to be dangerous to the brain.
" Very well then," said Hope. "Want me to give you a haircut?"
"No, thank you..."
But Hope had already started to cut. Horror filled Annabell's mind. How could she stop Hope? She threw a rock at her and missed. Annabell sighed. She would have to jump off the tree. Grabbing her water helmet, Annabell dove into the sea.
She landed on top of Violet, the potion-selling mermaid.
"Oh, sorry!" she said.
"NO problem," Violet replied coolly. She helped Annabell get down.
"Good shells! What happened to your HAIR?"
"Well, you see...Hope..."
"Don't worry about it. I'll give you my Beauty Maker potion for free. You need it more than I do."
Annabell thanked Violet and took the potion. She drank it, and her beauty began to extend.

Annabell and the Revenge Rodeo (Part Three)
The next day, the friends spotted the sign and put their tokens in the coin slot.
The sign lifted, and the Beach Bums were able to don their swim gear and leap into the ocean. Annabell’s seahorse was far too wild, and she got thrown off immediately. Hope’s fancy clam pearl necklace got caught on her seahorse’s mane, and she stayed on a little longer before the necklace broke and she fell off. Allen, however, was able to control his seahorse, and he won. The seashells hadn’t expected there to be a winner, so for a prize, Allen got an autographed photo of Bert.
“At least it’s something.”

MUST ENTER RODEO, 300 SEA TOKENS, it said, but little did they know that Hope was also up, making sea tokens and sand dollars just in case Bert charged them for their mistake.
The next night the shells worked on finding large, rowdy sea horses in the ocean. But this time Allen made the sea tokens. The next night, the shells saddled the sea horses and painted in small lettering on the rodeo sign. In the ocean bloo, it said, because Bert was not the best speller. Annabell made sea tokens that night. The next day, the friends spotted the sign and put their tokens in the coin slot.

Annabell and the Revenge Rodeo (Part One)
Annabell had to change the subject. She tried to blow in Bert’s face.
“Do you feel a draft?” asked Bert.
“Nah,” said Bertha.
“Nah.” Booper piped up.
"Nope," Boopah declined.
“Well, at least you changed the subject,” Allen said. They were peeking into Bert and Booper’s cozy room, which was built off of the main tree house.
Bertha and Boopah had theirs too, but they were with Bert for a reason. They were talking about how to get even with Hope, who had accidently poured salt water instead of mango juice into the blender. Finally, the seashells cleared out.
“I thought they’d never leave,” said Hope with a shudder.
Annabell, who was the more sensible of the two girls, whispered to the Beach Bums. “They wouldn’t have left until they found revenge,” she said.
The seashells woke early that night to make a sign.

The Feminine Fairy (Part Three)
"Well, what’s the surprise?" Hope asked. "I was in the middle of making some meatloaf! Tell me what it is already!"
"It's gone!" Annabell stuttered. "There was something here..."
"Can we go back in now?" Bert asked. "I'm tired of waiting."
They started to leave. Annabell realized that the only reason Violetta had left was because somebody was about to get hurt. Maybe she had forgotten. Annabell decided quickly what to do.
She scrambled up a tree and called to the others, "Hey! Watch this!" They all turned around. Annabell jumped from the top of the tree and- BOING! There was Violetta's trampoline. Violetta appeared. "Sorry I left!" she said. "Thanks for almost getting hurt so I could get here." The group stood and stared, mouths agape. Violetta smiled. It was a beautiful day full of laughter and playing.

"No," said Violetta. "I can't help once it's too late."
"Will you wait here?" Annabell asked. "I want all my friends to see you."
"That would be wonderful." Violetta said. "The more people know me, the more people I can help."
Annabell dashed back to the tree house. "GUYS!!! GUYS!!!" she shouted as loudly as she could.
"What? I heard a thump. Are you okay?" Allen asked, looking up from the crossword puzzle he was working on. "Yes, I'm fine. But there's something you have to see. Get the seashells. I'll get Hope!" Soon, they were all gathered outside the tree.
"Well, what is it already?" Hope asked impatiently.
"Follow me," Annabell replied.
She dashed off into the Palm Tree Forest, excited. When they reached the spot where Violetta had been- THERE WAS NOTHING THERE!

Annabell and the Feminine Fairy
Annabell was sitting at the top of the tree and sewing snakeskin clothes for the group. Suddenly, her book of sizes and patterns fell! Annabell made a mad grab for the book as it plummeted into the depths of the Palm Tree Forest. All she accomplished was sending herself tumbling through air after the book. There was no way she would survive without an injury. Annabell was merely inches from the ground when she hit something else, something springy, like a trampoline. She bounced back up into the air, then fell back, bouncing up and down a few more times. A beautiful girl appeared, although she was only about as big as the length of your hand. Two lavender wings sprouted from her back. Her hair was deep purple, long, and silky. "Hello," she said, in a velvety voice that sounded neither young nor old. "My name is Violetta. I'm a fairy, as you might have guessed. I'm here to save anyone who might get hurt." "Can you save anyone already hurt?" Annabell questioned, not much surprised. Strange occurrences like Violetta happened all the time to her.

Hope and the Angry Bees
Hope's job on the island was to find and gather food in the Palm Tree Woods. She didn't realize how dangerous it was until one sunny Monday, when she was looking for bananas. "Wow," Hope breathed, even though nobody was listening. She gazed at the gargantuan bunch of fruit. Hope was about to pluck it when she heard a noise. Buzzzzzzzzzzzz. Buzzzzzzzzz. Buzzzzzzzzz. She turned around nervously- TO FIND HERSELF FACE TO FACE WITH THE BIGGEST BEEHIVE SHE HAD EVER SEEN! Hope screamed as loudly as her powerful lungs could allow. The bees, it turned out, were as scared as she was, and began to buzz angrily around her, upset that she interrupted their hard work.
Hope came home with quite a few stings...and a wagon load of honey. "Bees only sting once each," Annabell commented. "I'm guessing the group you were up against ran out of ammo?" Allen joked. "Actually, yes. I just walked up to the hive and took the honey." Hope shrugged. "Well, in any case," said Annabell, beginning to joke around herself. "I bet this honey will be the bee's knees!"

Booper and the Hammock Gone Haywire
Bert loved to fix things. The trouble was that he couldn't do it very well. He fixed Booper's favorite hammock once. Let's just say it didn't go so great. Bert thought himself lucky that Booper hadn't noticed his handiwork by looking at it. Feeling happy and relieved, Bert exited the scene of the crime, or in this case, the spot on the beach where Booper kept his hammock.
Later, Booper stepped out of the tree house wearing tiny shell sandals, a beach hat, and sunglasses, holding a big glass of lemonade, and sporting a big grin across his conch shell body. He was going to go lie on his favorite place on the whole island, his hammock. Booper took a deep breath and leaped into the hammock. It collapsed under him, sending Booper crashing to the ground! Booper wasn't very mad at Bert. After all, he only wanted to help. Booper was an excellent handyman, and he fixed the hammock in no time. It works now, just like it had before- perfectly. Only one thing had changed: a sign by the hammock now declares: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Annabell and the Fancy Flower
One day, Annabell was out on a walk when she found a beautiful flower growing in the palm tree woods. It was light orange and smelled like honeysuckle. I wonder what it's called, she thought. Annabell picked the mysterious angiosperm and brought it back to the tree house. Boopah the seashell recognized it at once. Her beady little eyes grew huge with wonder. "Where did you get this?" she cried. "Well, I found it in the woods," she replied. "That flower is called a Lovelace," Boopah explained. "If you smell it for too long, you instantly fall in love with whomever you look at first." Annabell clamped her nose shut in reply. Boopah laughed. Suddenly, Bert waltzed into the room. "What's that pretty flower?" he asked. "It smells really good." Bert turned to face Boopah, then suddenly pounced on her, kissing and smooching the unfortunate seashell. "That's the power of Lovelace," Boopah groaned. THE END
